Emily Harris

Contributing Writer

Good writing takes practice and passion – Emily has sustained both since discovering her love of creative writing as a child. She remembers spending hours at home, typing her short stories. That prepared her to take on the editor-in-chief role of her high school’s award-winning newspaper. She has been writing ever since.

Now, with nearly two decades of experience in communications, Emily truly understands the power of good writing. She has used it to take complex issues and make them easy to understand, to directly and concisely convey calls to action, and to compel media to cover clients’ stories. As a valuable member of the Laura Bishop Communications Crew, she contributes her experience toward projects such as newsletters, media pitches and communications plans.

Emily understands the power of good writing

Emily has spent most of her career in public service, where she not only further enhanced her writing, but developed as a professional. As a district attorney’s spokesperson, she dealt with sensitive matters in high-stakes environments. She formed the habit of fact-checking everything and never making assumptions. She also learned how to work efficiently and strategically, never losing sight of her goal to serve the community. Later, as a director of public relations, she relied on her skills and experiences to manage communications for one of the largest counties in the Philadelphia area.

The tests Emily has faced throughout her career more than prepared her to join the LBC Crew. She approaches each meeting, writing assignment, and strategizing session with the same determination to get everything right: the facts, the tone, the goal. This has quickly helped her earn the trust and respect of both clients and colleagues.
