Position: Account Manager

Full-time, Exempt

Laura Bishop Communications (LBC), a full-service communications firm, seeks an account manager to lead goal-oriented communications programs for a range of clients. The account manager takes responsibility for client satisfaction and retention; long-term planning; and identifying opportunities to expand clients’ scopes of work. Working with designated client teams, the account manager guides and reviews each team’s client communications, ensuring deliverables are strategic, appropriately tailored for a defined audience and platform, creative, accurate and professional. 

The account manager works from a home office and visits clients across New Jersey and in the Philadelphia suburbs. Travel to staff meetings and LBC events in locations throughout New Jersey is also required. 

*Preference is currently given to candidates who live in North and Central New Jersey as LBC builds a designated team for clients in the northern half of the state. 

Role Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Exceptional writing skills – ability to deliver clear, concise, and compelling content across various media – video and digital included – with a pesky eye for grammar. 
    • Smart editor – makes thoughtful edits for other Crew members while maintaining their voice and style; coaches others to improve their researching, interviewing, and writing skills. 
    • Ability to make decisions, delegate and motivate when leading others. 
    • Media experience – understanding “newsworthy” elements as a strong foundation for communicating with traditional news media, which includes drafting releases, advisories and pitches, and following trends and the day’s news to develop relevant story ideas.  
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, pivoting as necessary to meet deadlines. 
    • Self-motivated – able to work independently; proactive and driven to bring original ideas to the table and think “big picture.”  
    • Detail-oriented – can retain and maintain accurate documents and files for clients and Laura Bishop Communications; can maintain detailed, daily record of time. 
    • Innovative – has an eye on trends in the communications field and is willing to offer out-of-the-box approaches to meet clients’ communications goals. 
    • Visually inclined – can visualize and identify opportunities for improved graphics across various mediums.  
    • Experience in video production and graphic design; an understanding of the Canva design platform is a plus.  
    • Team player – open to feedback and useful criticism from colleagues; willingness to pitch in to help fulfill all clients’ marketing communications/public relations missions, plans and timelines. 
    • Bilingual skills are a plus. 

Education and Experience: 

    • College degree, ideally in communications, public relations, journalism, digital media, or a related field.  
    • Five or more years in the professional practice of public relations or a related field, and some experience in project management. 
    • Project experience – a track record of working solo and/or with others to complete projects to meet defined communications goals. 

Additional Requirements: 

    • Basic computer skills, including an understanding of the Microsoft Office suite, and willingness to learn additional applications as necessary. 
    • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.  
    • Travel by personal vehicle is required to attend client meetings and events (including some evenings), as well as monthly staff events. 

      Salary and Benefits 

        • The salary range for this role is $55,000-$75,000; starting salary is commensurate with experience.  
        • In addition to PTO and sick leave, LBC has a generous paid holiday calendar, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s.
