Position: Account Manager

Full-time, Exempt

The Account Manager will lead strategic initiatives to create and conduct goal-oriented communications programs in accordance with client budgets.

Reports to: Vice President or Senior Account Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Salary Range: $56,650 – $77,250

Duties/Responsibilities:

Manages assigned client accounts, including:

    • Takes responsibility for client satisfaction and retention; long-term planning; and identifying opportunities to expand the scope of work/budget.
    • Tailors copy for a defined audience and across platforms, including traditional media and client-initiated print material, web, and social media.
    • Guides and reviews public-facing communications.
    • Visits clients on-site and attends meetings/events.
    • Responds to sensitive client issues in a timely manner in consultation with Leadership Team.
    • Balances each client’s Scope of Work and budget for profitability.

Collaborates with other Crew members to spur creativity and share resources for all LBC clients.

Develops and/or executes elements of LBC marketing strategies, such as social media, e-newsletter, print collateral, website and/or workshop presence.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Exceptional writing skills – ability to deliver clear, concise, and compelling content across various media – video and digital included – with a pesky eye for grammar.
    • Smart editor – makes thoughtful edits for other Crew members while maintaining their voice and style; coaches others to improve their researching, interviewing, and writing skills.
    • Ability to make decisions, delegate and motivate when leading others.
    • Media experience – understanding “newsworthy” elements as a strong foundation for communicating with traditional news media, which includes drafting releases, advisories and pitches, and following trends and the day’s news to develop relevant story ideas.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, pivoting as necessary to meet deadlines.
    • Self-motivated – able to work independently; proactive and driven to bring original ideas to the table and think “big picture.”
    • Detail-oriented – can retain and maintain accurate documents and files for clients and Laura Bishop Communications; can maintain detailed, daily record of time.
    • Innovative – has an eye on trends in the communications field and is willing to offer out-of-the-box approaches to meet clients’ communications goals.
    • Visually inclined – can visualize and identify opportunities for improved graphics across various mediums.
    • Experience in video production and graphic design; an understanding of the Canva design platform is a plus.
    • Team player – open to feedback and useful criticism from colleagues; willingness to pitch in to help fulfill all clients’ marketing communications/public relations missions, plans and timelines.· Bilingual skills are a plus.

Education and Experience: 

    • College degree, ideally in communications, public relations, journalism, digital media, or a related field.
    • Five or more years in the professional practice of public relations or a related field, and some experience in project management.
    • Project experience – a track record of working solo and/or with others to complete projects to meet defined communications goals.

        Additional Requirements

          • Basic computer skills, including an understanding of the Microsoft Office suite, and willingness to learn additional applications as necessary.
          • Valid driver license and auto insurance.
          • Travel by personal vehicle is required to attend client meetings and events (including some evenings), as well as monthly staff events.

        Position type and hours of work

          • This is an exempt role.
          • Basic hours of operations are Monday through Friday 8:00 – 5:00
          • Work from your home office and attend periodic in-person staff meetings. You are responsible for equipping your home office and ensuring reliable internet and phone service.
          • May include increased work during busier and more demanding times, such as referendum campaigns, new client launches, and managing crisis communications.
          • Flexibility is offered, and it is expected in return, including some evenings and occasional weekends, especially when managing a client issue or crisis.

        Position: Account Associate

        Full-time, Non-Exempt

        The Account Associate will support strategic initiatives to create and conduct goal-oriented communications programs in accordance with client budgets.

        Reports to: Vice President or Senior Account Manager

        Salary Range: $46,350 – $61,800

        Duties/Responsibilities:

        Works to support client account teams, including:

          • Contributes to client satisfaction and retention by managing deadlines and workflow.
          • Tailors copy for a defined audience and across platforms, including traditional media and client-initiated print material, web, and social media.
          • Writes/designs public-facing communications.
          • Monitors media daily for client mentions and issues/trend pertaining to the client.
          • Visits clients on-site and attends meetings/events.
          • Recognizes sensitive client issues and reports those to the Account Manager.

        Collaborates with other Crew members to spur creativity and share resources for all LBC clients.
